                  Sudha Krishnamurthy has been trained in Bharatanatyam for over 15 years under Smt.Vasantha Aravindan of Koothambalam. After her debut Arangetram in 1996, she continued to be a part of exquisite choreography by Koothambalam and performed at various events conducted by the dance school. Her passion for teaching was initiated when she volunteered as an Assistant teacher at Jayamangala. She is the founding Director of Thapasya – School of Dance. 
 
                She has since served as the Advanced Studies Instructor of Performing and Visual Arts Magnet schools, Anne Arundel County having introduced Bharatanatyam as one of the dance forms to be learned by the students and was a specialist for the Chesapeake Montessori School where she worked with the adolescent group introducing and teaching Bharatanatyam as part of the "Physical expression study". She has also collaborated with various nonprofit arts organizations to share and promote Bharatanatyam from India and its beautiful culture and history. She continues to work with schools (public and private) to merge arts and education in the form of workshops, lecture demonstration, live and interactive performances.
 
              She continues to train with her Guru.Smt.Vasantha Aravindan, Smt.Indira Kidambi (Abhinaya). She has also received training from Sri. Renjith Babu(Yoga for dancers). She strives hard to bring her passion, culture, and love for this art through teaching children in the United States.

            KOOTHAMBALAM Academy of Bharatanatyam &Mohiniyattam was founded by Guru.Sri.S.Aravindan in 1966 at Chennai. Guru.Sri.S.Aravindan, an Alumini of late Smt.Rukmini Devi’s Kalakshetra had his training in Bharathanatyam & Kathakali from the great legends Smt.Rukmini Devi & late Guru Chandu Panicker. Later he served as teacher at Kalakshetra. His ability as a dancer, teacher, Natuvanar (conductor) , composer, choreographer & author has won him the titles Natyakala thilakam, Natyakala rathnam, Kavi, Nalladal Nanmani, Natyacharya & Natanakulapathy. There is a saying “VIDHYA VINAYA SAMBANNAHA”. True to the meaning as a polite silent human being, Guru.Sri.S.Aravindan lives peacefully at Koothambalam, Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore.

          Smt.Vasantha Aravindan,who currently heads Koothambalam is a versatile  Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam  and  a Kuchipudi dancer. She is an excllent Teacher, Nattuvanar,  Choreographer and a Lyricist. After her marriage with Natyacharya  Guru Sri. S. Aravindan , she became his disciple  & his best co-equal  at Koothambalam. She had her initial training in Mohiniyattam  from late Padmasri  Chinnammu amma. She has to her credit  performed  both Bharatanatyam & Mohiniyattam  at various sabhas, temples, government dance festivals , IDA festival & in 2007  she was invited  to Oklahoma,USA to conduct work shop on natya  for one month. Some of her disciples have turned teachers in various countries with her guidance.
